Abstract

Future studies is the science of cognition, description and formation of the future of human life in various dimensions. It is an important science for the future of all countries, which is closely related to the values, knowledge, culture, conditions, contexts and needs of every society, both theoretically and practically. Naturally, every country has its own indigenous and significant perspective towards the future. In this line, considering the rich Islamic-Iranian culture, Islamic-Iranian future studies can form the indigenous theme of future studies in Iran. After discussing Islamic future studies and its dimensions, this essay has introduced fourteen of its main achievements in four scientific, social, political and legal fields. The research method, employed by the Author is systematic study of the existing literature and analysis of previous works. Our study shows that the Islamic future studies has different functions from the point of view of different stakeholders (especially society, government and scientists). Islamic future studies, from the general point of view and for the society, is a guide to move towards excellence, hope and happiness in this world and the hereafter. From the point of view of academics, the religious perspective can offer new horizons and solutions that compensate for the theoretical and practical shortcomings of science in terms of cognition of the future. In terms of governance, Islamic future studies can be employed as a framework for progress and governance and as a tool to justify policies and actions.
