The Middle East; an Arena for Confrontation between Hegemonic and Anti-hegemonic Discourses

Abstract

;
The Middle East is one of the most instable regions of the world. Durable conflicts in Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan are witnesses of the mentioned claim. Instability in the Middle East has different roots. The author believes that one of the most important factors of the instability in the region is a contradiction between two trends in the Middle East; The US imperial strategy from on hand, and Islamic reactions to the US in form of fundamentalism, from other hand. This paper will survey roots and aspects of this contradiction. ;
