Discursive Structure of the New Stage in Iran – Russia Relations

Abstract

A series of events and changes during the last two decades of the 20th century led to fundamental transformations in the discursive sphere in Iran – Russia relations. The new stage of change in discursive sphere in their relations began with the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran, continued with qualitative changes in the global situation and culminated with the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the other words, during a 15 year period, internal discourses in Iran underwent fundamental changes, the same thing occurred in Russia as well, and also, global discourses experienced basic transformations. The result of these changes has been so far the possibility of prevailing a discourse based on common interests in relations between the two countries.
