Performance Appraisal of Parliament in the Political System of I.R.Iran (3rd to 8th Periods)

Abstract

The performance and the legal and legislative status of parliament in democracies and relationship between the legislative and executive powers in these systems, play an important role in the process of public policy making and the accountability of bureaucracy to political system. This research aims to study the status of parliament in I.R.Iran in the period of 1989-2011.;
In this research, the variables such as the composition of political parties, legislative performance of parliament, its independence in legislation, monitoring the performance of parliament and its relation with other state institutions are used and analyzed based on a qualititative research strategy by collecting archive data. The results show that since 1989 and after the revision of the Constitution, the position and influence of parliament in Iran have decreased and Iranian political system tends more to presidentialism;
