Good Urban Governance: The Prioritization of Components and Indicators

Abstract

It seems that in contemporary urban management, the model of good urban governance has been able to prove its efficiency in improving urban management. One of the most important points in implementing this model in the context of Iran’s urban management is to define the major components of good urban governance and to also determine the significance of the differences between these components and indicators. The present study was designed to achieve this goal. The methodology used in the study is descriptive-analytic and the data collection method is survey-bibliography. First, the components of good urban governance were analyzed theoretically in other developed and developing countries. Then, the analytic model of TOPOSIS was used to determine the significance of the components and indicators of urban good governance. The indicators were evaluated by five specialists in the field of good urban governance and then were ranked and analyzed by the analytic model of TOPOSIS. The results show the priority and significance of components and indicators of rule of law, participation and justice over other components and indicators for a good urban governance in Iran
